Regina Franco reflects on her late husband's enduring passion and support of Health Care for the Homeless.
As a child growing up in Baltimore, my family was very poor.
We lived just around the corner from Helping Up Mission, and a world away from my husband Henry’s childhood home in Roland Park.
When Henry passed away in August of 2019, he left behind a legacy of empathy, compassion and hope. He left behind a planned gift to Health Care for the Homeless to continue the work he loved so much.
Henry and I both always felt the same responsibility to give back. Planned gifts were a meaningful option for us, and could work for you, too.
Henry was always thinking about other people, and seeing the good in others. He worked as a nurse and was a healer, in every sense of the word. Henry believed that everyone deserved to be taken care of, and that we all have a right to go home.
Health Care for the Homeless always had a special place in his heart. He was impressed by the quality of care, and even more by the agency’s commitment to helping people regain stability in their lives.
His planned gift embodied his commitment to our community.
As I considered my own estate plan, I connected with the donor relations team, and together we explored what type of gift was right for me.
Personally, I want to see this money go to good use while I’m here. So I made a significant contribution to the Health Care for the Homeless endowment.
It was all very easy to do, and I’ve been so grateful to the team at Health Care for the Homeless for helping me navigate these important decisions with grace and respect.
